My journey

My design career has been 20 years in the making! My path toward design began at North Carolina State University where I started as an engineering major and ended up receiving my Bachelor of Art & Design with a minor in Industrial Design in 2007. After my undergraduate studies, I began taking business and metalsmithing classes and went on to start my jewelry design business in 2010.

In 2023, I received a User-Centered Design certificate from the University of Washington, Human Centered Design and Engineering department. In my second week as a UW student, I discovered I had a brain tumor and went on to have brain surgery between Winter and Spring quarter. I know, crazy! I was able to fully recover from brain surgery while advancing my skills as a UX designer. Going through that experience renewed my trust in my strength to overcome immense challenges while staying true to my craft as a designer.

Plant Lover

I am an avid plant lover with over 100 plants in my home, including an indoor hydroponic garden for vegetables, herbs and flowers. My current favorites are mustard greens and thai basil!

Mama

I am a mom of two, a boy and a girl, who I adore and who drive me nearly insane in equal measure. They are a constant source of inspiration, joy, and fatigue.

Maker

I have worn many hats as a designer, mostly in the creation of physical objects. My early years focused on woodworking (furniture and sculpture), painting, and screenprinting. Later I would find my way into jewelry design and production. Interaction design feels like a natural progression to my journey.
